Safety issues in China (nuclear crisis in Japan)

Insight China 2011 would like to comment on the safety in China due to the nuclear crisis in Japan.

As of today, various sources have confirmed that it is save to travel to China. The risk of radioactive exposure for China is rated low and the radioactive releases are 'highly unlikely to be an immediate danger to China'. Furthermore it is said that even in a worst-case scenario of changing wind directions and higher radioactive exposure, the risk to North China would be low. (Greenpeace, 2011)

The Project Team has been in contact with EDA, who have confirmed that currently the radioactivity is heading towards the east (pacific ocean). This means that there is no direct threat, and the Insight China On-Site Seminar on 14 April will not be affected. Nonetheless, we are constantly evaluating the situation and will keep our stakeholders informed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact someone from the Project Team.

Our thoughts go out to all the victims of this tragedy and their friends and families.
